Kimmeridge Bay Dorset is one of many little bays or coves that are scattered along the Jurassic Coast.
When we visited, we chose to park on the clifftop. There is a slipway car park too, but we chose the clifftop car park for the great views and the mini-hike down to the bay.
If you are looking for a beautiful, stunning bay, dotted with rock pools and gorgeous views, then look no further than Kimmeridge Bay.

Getting There
Dorset is one of 9 counties in the UK without a motorway. As a result, to visit this stunning piece of coastland, you have to tolerate a few country lanes.
But it is well worth the drive, believe me.
History / A bit about Kimmeridge Bay Dorset
As mentioned, Kimmeridge Bay is located along a very pretty stretch of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. According to UNESCO, the Jurassic Coast is one of 32 properties listed on the World Heritage List.
If you have ever visited any stretch of this coastline, you can see why.
Hee a a few things I have learnt from the Visit Dorset website
- The Bay lies in a Special Area of Conservation
- It is great for Rock Pooling and Snorkelling
- Above Kimmeridge Bay sits Clavell Tower
- Clavell Tower has been an inspiration for P.D James and Enid Blyton books
- The area is popular for Surfers and Wind Surfers
I hope that helps a little with your visit to Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset.

Summary of Kimmeridge Bay Dorset
We explored it very quickly, but can’t wait to go back. It is a beautiful bay, where you can experience the true feeling of Dorset, it’s coastline and have fun exploring Rock Pools and the Bay.
If you choose to park on the clifftop, make sure who ever is with you is able to make it down the cliff, but we did it with a 2 year old, so it should be too difficult.
Finally, please respect where you are, and make sure you take any litter home with you. Let’s keep our coastline as beautiful as it is!
