Getting There

A bit about Kings Hat New Forest

The drive to get here is a pretty one, and you all know, we like a great drive!

Firstly, the car park is on the other side to the Kings Hat inclosure itself. There are some very pretty walks leading from the car park without crossing the road, so bear this in mind.

Once parked, you can explore the walks, the open spaces and the pretty Beaulieu River, and bridge. There are plenty of little paths darting off from the main one, and you could explore for hours.

If this side of the road isn’t quite enough for you, you can walk back out of the car park, and head to the official Kings Hat Inclosure, still situated in the New Forest.

The walkways in this section are wider, and more ‘track’ like, so very easy to navigate.

What’s nearby?

12 miles from Lyndhurst, considered to be the capital of the New Forest. 9 miles from Lepe Beach, and also 9 miles from Lymington.

Proof, if you needed it, that you can enjoy a bustling seaside town, a forest walk, and some beautiful beaches.

All within a few miles of each other.

In fact, check out this video I did recently on the New Forest beaches. There are a few!!

About Our Visit to Kings Hat in the New Forest

We leave the car park, and follow the main, and obvious path. Eventually, the path opens out, and goes down hill slightly to a small stream, with a wooden bridge going across.

On this occasion, a family are paddling in the shallow entrance to the river, so I shot these photos on our way back.

I have read that this park of Kings Hat can get flooded after serious rain, but today, being the end of June, fortunately, all was flowing freely! The New Forest has been particularly dry over the last few weeks.

Once over the bridge, the trees parted, and it opened out onto the clearing in the forest.

Over time we stumble across places like this, it reinforces my belief that our decision to move to this part of the world was a good one.
