Video All About Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary

We visited in 2021, and here is a real quick video we made when we stopped by.

Entering the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary

We stopped by here when we were camping nearby, as it was a perfect way to spend the last couple of hours of our Camping Trip when we were staying in Devon.

There is a large car park, so parking should not be an issue. You are required to wash your hands on entry. The sinks on the way in have nice warm running water.

As we entered, the lobby is nice and bright with a few things to look at before you even see the Donkeys. There is a donation box here. It is well worth popping in a few pounds, as entry is free. I am sure places like the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary need all the donations they can get.

To the left was an area dedicated to how Donkeys have evolved, and been used through the years.

There is also the obligatory Gift Shop, and of course, a cafe. You can eat in or take away, although the takeaway menu is limited.

The Donkeys

Of course, the main reason for stopping by, other than to pick up your copy of Donkey Monopoly (that’s a thing, I promise) is to check out the cute mules.

Head out to the enclosures where they could be found near the buildings, perhaps being fed. Alternatively, venture out to the wider open spaces.

The Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary has large fields where all the Donkeys have plenty of room to stretch their legs.

If they have certain needs, they are grouped together.

It not just Donkeys!!

If you want something else to keep you and your family entertained, then you will not be wanting.

There is a small play area, with mini stables and a tractor. There is also a maze, gardens to walk around, and of course, the Gift Shop.

They also hold various events and at the time of typing, they were hosting a Follow the Glow Christmas event.

Summary of the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary

A great place to spend a few hours. We were on our way home with a 3-hour drive ahead of us so we didn’t explore as much as we’d like, but we would certainly re-visit if we were in the area again.

If you are heading to this part of Devon, then why not check out the Seaton Tramway or the Wetlands. Both are great fun for all the family.
