Snapshot Review of Meathop Fell Campsite in the Lake District
This Campsite is a great place to start your Lake District adventure.
Spacious pitches, spread across varying levels there are some secluded and some more open pitches.
The stalls trees give an almost woodland feel, and the proximity to other stunning places is an added bonus

Location of Meathop Fell
This is a great campsite if you are visiting the Lake District from the south. It is just 10 miles or so from Jct 36 of the M6.
It also makes it easy to reach some of the beautiful lakes in the area. 8 miles from Windermere, and 17 from Coniston.
Customer Service and Staff
We unluckily had booked Lake District sites during the 3 storms that hit the UK in Feb 2022. This was one of the nights we had booked. The other two sites had to close and Meathop Fell took us in at the last minute.
In addition, we had hired another van, so we could test something out a bit different. They neglected to give us a water hose, so the good people at Meathop Fell found us one to use.
They were helpful and polite, so a big thumbs up from us.
Showers and Toilets
Inside the shower blocks were warm, and the showers themselves were powerful enough.
One bonus was, they had proper taps and not the push-button type. Meaning you were not fumbling around for a button if you have a faceful of shampoo.
They also had a decent amount of hooks in, so you could hang things up.
General Cleanliness
Very neat, very tidy. The toilets were clean, the laundry and washing up areas were too.
In addition, the Chemical toilet point was well kept to, so there are no complaints here.
Facilities
Meathop Fell campsite, in the Lake District, is a Caravan and Motorhome club site, so the facilites were pretty standard for a CAMC site.
Everything was pretty good, but there wasn’t a lot, although there was a smallish play park at this one. I have lited pretty much everything above, although we did not spend a lot of time there.
Conclusion of this Lake District Campsite
This is a great site, and one I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to in a heartbeat.
The tall trees, many providing shade and cover to the pitches gave a real foresty feel.
The facilities were clean. We are close to many things, and I just love the style of this campsite, and the way it is laid out.
