We Like
The Facilities. Great Shower blocks, a small cafe, and even a bar. Not typical for a CAMC site.
We Don’t Like
The shop was expensive.
Almost £6 for a four-pint carton of milk, and a small bottle of tomato ketchup.
Location of Carnon Downs
Carnon Downs Caravan Club Site is situated in a decent location, with easy access to popular places.
20 minutes to Falmouth, 30 minutes to Newquay, and a slightly longer 60 minutes to Lands End.
Truro is about 10 minutes and reception did tell us there are nice cycle routes this way, albeit a little hilly.
Customer Service and Staff
Really helpful on check in, and when we had a minor problem we had to sort out with a shop purchase we made.
I can’t remember having to speak to them too often, but I do not imagine there being any concerns if we did.
Showers and Toilets at Carnon Downs Caravan Club Site
The showers and toilets at this sight are on a par with another of our other favourite sites, Concierge Camping.
The facilities at Concierge Camping had a touch of luxury that Carnon Downs just fell short of. However, the shower blocks here were great if it is privacy you crave.
Each shower was in it’s own bathroom, that consisted of a toilet and a basin. It meant you had total privacy.
General Cleanliness
No litter. Showers and toilets seemed to be cleaned often. And the most important bit was the guests seemed keen to mop out their ‘bathroom’ after use. Most of the time.
I believe that no matter how hard the staff work if each guest doesn’t do their bit, things can get messy pretty quickly.
Facilities
The best Facilities we have seen in a Caravan and Motorhome Club site.
As mentioned, the shower block was very good. Add to that the bar, the cafe, and also the food carts that came in I think about 4 times a week, it meant you had pretty much what you needed.
There was also a large dog walking area, a play park, a ball field, and a games room (which we did not see)
Conclusion
Definitly a site we would revisit if we wanted to stay in the area again.
Knowing it has great showers and toilets, plus a bar is pretty much all we need when we are camping!
