Here is our review of the California Chalet & Touring Park, a Campsite near Legoland. As with all our reviews here, and what we want to achieve on this site, we only review the campsites we have stayed at, so you know you are getting an honest opinion from honest campers.
This is a review based on our experiences, totally independent and not sponsored or influenced by the campsite.

The Important Bits
Campsite Name:
California Chalet & Touring Park
Location:
California Country Park,
Wokingham, RG40 4HU
Location
Not far from some popular spots, such as Windsor and Reading
Toilets & Showers
Worked well, although fixtures and fittings could have done with an update

We visited in August and paid for £86 2 Adults and 1 Child on a Touring Pitch for 2 nights
We Like
The ambience, the setting and the environment. Very secluded, and give the feeling you are camping in a
We Don’t Like
Not much. Shower fittings could do with a bit of an update, along with the chemical disposal point.
Location of California Chalet & Touring Park
We used this Campground when we visited Legoland, near Windsor.
It is convenient for the town of Windsor, and other local attractions, like Coral Reef, Reading and Runnymede.
Although a 20-minute drive, it is still worth considering if you are Family Camping and need a Campsite near Legoland.
It is also situated in California Country Park. We didn’t explore the park much during our visit, but there is a playpark, a paddling pool, and a large lake to explore.
Customer Service and Staff
We only needed to speak to someone on arrival and departure. The lady at reception was pleasant enough.
The reception area is closed on a Sunday, and you have to call if you need someone. Worth bearing this in mind if you are arriving or departing on that day.
Showers and Toilets at California Chalet Touring Park
Dated, but perfectly adequate.
The shower block which is roughly in the middle of the campground had all the amenities around it—the washing up, as well as the Laundry and the Chemical Disposal area.
In terms of the showers, the shower fixtures themselves could have down with a bit of TLC. One in the ladies was a bit lose, and one in the gents had a leak and was squirting water at all angles.
They are push button and stay on for about 8 seconds. In the ladies, when they came back on, they were a little bit cold and took a second to warm up again.
These are minor things, but we want to share our experiences with you.
General Cleanliness
No complaints. Every Amenity was clean and tidy, and there was zero sign of litter.
The staff at California Chalet & Touring Park do a great job in this respect. The showers and toilets were clean. All other public places were up to a good standard.
The areas around the bins were clean and tidy too.
Facilities
Basic facilities, but just perfect for the location.
There was nothing more than you needed. Because of this, for me, it gave us the feeling that we were in the middle of nowhere, with just the facilities we needed.
Conclusion
We really liked this site.
The location, the ambience and the size of the park were perfect for us, and for what we needed.
Should we ever need to head back to that area, we would have no hesitation in staying at California Chalet & Touring Park.
