We have visited a few over the years, so I thought I was in a position to share with you, the Best Campsites in the New Forest that we can recommend.
There will also be a few that we haven’t visited yet but would like to.
Let’s get started with a bit about the New Forest. The New Forest is over 1,000 years old, and covers 220 square miles. Over 7,000 animals roam and survive in the open forest, and there is 235km of public footpaths.
Two of the most surprising facts for me are there is 26 miles of coastline, and less than half the New Forest is covered in trees!!
In addition, there are plenty of free things to do if you are taking the family with you.
With all the above, it is very appealing for campers. Please note that wild camping is not allowed in the New Forest, but do not worry. There are a lot of Campsites in the New Forest, and here are a few of our favourites.

About the Below New Forest Campsites
The first 4 on the below lists are campsites in the New Forest that we have personally visited and can give decent feedback on.
The next few are highly recommended, based on what we have read, and what we know.
Please bear this in mind when reading.
Black Knowl Caravan and Motorhome Club Site
Perfectly located in the heart of the forest, with direct access to a multitude of footpaths, tracks and cycleways.
It is also within walking distance of Brockenhurst, with its shops, pubs and restaurants.
Perfect for a relaxing break, an invigorating walk or hike, or making the most of the nearby village:

Long Meadow New Forest Campsite
Not a million miles away from Black Knowle, this is a clean and tidy site.
It is also within walking distance of Brockenhurst, although slightly further away.
Hard Standing and Grass pitches give you plenty of options, depending on your set-up and your preference.

Lytton Lawn
Situated just west of Lymington, Lytton Lawn is another one of the New Forest Camping Sites that we would return to.
It does have quite a few pitches, and they can be quite close together, but that would not put us off
You are able to use the facilities of Shorefield Country Park, and is only a 30 minute walk to the beach at Milford on Sea

Beaulieu Pop-Up Campsite
OK, so I am cheating here a bit as this is not a permanent campsite.
However, they have had a pop-up campsite there for a number of years. Usually, this is there in August, and we visited in 2021.
While basic, it provided showers, toilets, and entry into the Beaulieu Motor Museum.
It is also just a short walk to Beaulieu village where there are longer walks available for example to Bucklers Hard.

We Want to Visit – Back of Beyond Touring Park
This is on our wish list to visit, but not our immediate wish list. Unfortunately, (for us anyway) Back of Beyond Touring Park is an Adults Only campsite.
So, until we decide to take a camping trip without Max, this is going to stay on our wish list for a little while longer.
It won awards in 2022. It has an open-air bar and prides itself on being a peaceful campsite. So much so, the bar takes last orders at 8.30.
Definitely, one to visit in the future.
We Want to Visit – Hurst View Campsite
This is probably as close to wild camping as we will get. With Toilets and Showers
Hurst View Campsite has no allocated pitches, other than a few electric hookups. They offer Random Pitching, which means you set up where you want, in any of their fields.
The thing that convinced me to add this to our “Best Campsites in the New Forest” list is twofold.
Firstly, they have “magnificent views across the western Solent approaches to the Isle of Wight and the Needles, Hurst View is set in an unrivalled area of natural and unspoilt beauty”
In addition, they allow campfires. I have been campervanning for 5 years, and I have never sat around a campfire, wrapped in a blanket, supping a warming whisky.
One day…..
We Want to Visit – New Forest Centenary Club Campsite
Loaded with Facilities.
Toilets, Showers, WiFi, Laundry. All the camping Mod Cons.
This is after all a Caravan and Motorhome Club site, which regular watchers of our videos, and readers of our campsite reviews, will know we love the Caravan and Motorhome Club Sites.
We pretty much know what to expect, and have no hesitation in booking their sites.
10 minutes or so from the coast, where you can enjoy great places like Mudeford, Hengistbury Head, and Barton-on-Sea.
Our Favourite Camping Sites in the New Forest
So there are some of what we think are the best campsites in the New Forest, and hopefully, you may like the look of some of these.
The New Forest, with its wide open spaces, plenty of walking and cycling trails, along with pretty villages with their pubs and cafes, make the New Forest the perfect place to pitch up at one of their campsites.
