5 Great Websites for Booking your next Camping Trip

There are plenty of websites out there for booking your next camping trip. I know, as I have spent a lot of time trawling through them to find decent ones.

After booking campsites for over 5 years, I thought I would share my Top 5 websites I use for booking our camping trips.

These are in no particular order of preference, although they are in an order that we are leaning towards, for our options. Most of the campsites we book will be from one of these sites, and probably a lot of our favourites were too!

But, they are all as good as each other, depending on the type of trip you want.

Podcast of our favourite Camping Booking Websites.

Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

First up, is the Caravan and Motorhome club site. We have been members for just over a year, and love the ease of booking.

You can search by precise location, or by region. Pick an exact date, or perhaps a month and even filter by facilities.

For example, if you want to make sure you have a village within a mile, you can tick that box and hit search, and it comes up with a calendar, that clearly shows the availability.

Pick the dates you want, and away you go.

Some sites will be member-only, but for others, you can book, you just have to pay a little extra a night.

Ths site also has a really good app, that makes booking sites really quick and easy.

Pitch Up

The next one on our camping booking websites list is a site called www.pitchup.com. This is probably well known by a lot of people, and again, has a great search facility.

You can tick what you are looking for, a Tent Pitch, or a Campervan pitch for example.

Choose your dates, select how many adults and children are going, and hit search.

That will give you a long list of available sites. You then have the option to narrow it down using their filters.

Perhaps you want an electric pitch, and you want it to have a bar. Tick these boxes and the list will adjust accordingly.

You can then scroll through, and pick whichever site you like the look of, for more information.

You then see a map, some photos, and what pitches they have available for the dates you have chosen.

When you have decided you book straight from the site and reserve your pitch.

Out and About Live

Next up, is a website called Outandaboutlive.co.uk

This is the group that publishes popular magazines like MMM, or the campervan magazine.

Across the top of the page, click on the green square labelled campsites, and the search functions seem a little more limited.

I usually search by County if I am not sure exactly where I want to go. Hit search, and it brings up a long list, and points on the map.

There is also an advanced search option, where you can select your priorities, and perhaps even search for sites from certain organisations, like for example Premier Parks. Then pick any other requirements, let’s say you definitely want a Toilet and hit search.

You are then presented with a list that meets your criteria.

I usually use this site when looking for a Premier Park, as they claim to offer

100 of the best campsites across the UK and Ireland offering the ultimate touring experience“.

Google Maps

My next favourite is simply google maps. Great if you want an easy way to find campsites, or a camping booking websites by looking at a map.

Head to google.com/maps, and type in any, for example, Campsites near Ilfracombe.

This takes you to Ilfracombe and shows you a list down the left-hand side, and pins on the map of those campsites. You then have the option of clicking on those pins, to get more information

If you change your mind, you can just drag the map around, hit the box at the top that says search this area, and you will get a campsite in that area.

It is worth zooming in a bit, and clicking Search this area again, and it does seem to pull up more sites.

While this is great for finding sites in a certain area, and perhaps near a certain destination, it doesn’t really have a filter system if you want to only see sites with hardstanding for example.

But, it is still an option to locate campsites, if you had no luck with other camping booking websites.

UK Campsite

Next up, we have UKcampsite.co.uk. This is used slightly less, as the website is rather clunky, and outdated, but it does have a good range of sites on there.

Again, pop in a location hit search and you get both a map view and list view.

You can then add any filters, click on a site that takes your fancy, and check their availability calendar. It then gives you an option to send an email enquiry to that site.

I don’t think you can actually book via this site, so it is not ideal, but it may give you an option you have not been presented with before.

Summary of our camping booking websites

Whether you are looking for a one night stay somewhere or a few more days of relaxing you can be sure to find the site you need from the above.

We are big fans of the Caravan and Motorhome Club sites, as you always seem to know what you are going to get before you get there. As a result, this is normally our first port of call.

However, all the above are great, give plenty of choices, and all have their pros when it comes to camping booking websites.
