Campsite Name:
Cartref Caravan & Camping
Location:
Ford Heath, Shrewsbury
Shropshire, SY5 9GD
Location
In the middle of nowhere, but only 15 minutes to Shrewsbury
Toilets & Showers
Very good. Not the best we have seen, but more than adequate
Cost
Average pricing, at £39 for one night in August
We Like
Tidy, well-kept pitches with privacy hedges
The Bar!!!
We Don’t Like
Not much, apart from children cannot ride bikes or play with balls
Location of Cartref Campsite
Cartref Campsite in Shropshire is located just 15 minutes drive from the market town of Shrewsbury.
Here, you have the Market Hall, or perhaps you fancy a self-guided tour of the prison?
For me, the Hawkstone Park Follies looks like a great place to visit.
Range of Facilities
- Toilets
- Bar
- Free WiFi
- Showers
- Dog Walk
- Small Shop
- Play Park
Toilets and Showers – See Below
Small Shop – It doesn’t appear to sell lots and lots, so it is advisable to come prepared if you are planning on cooking meals
Bar – Great little bar, open until 7pm when we stayed. Great atmosphere, and good selection of drinks.
Dog Walk Area – The dog walk area is behind the static caravan field
Play Park – Suitable for the younger children. Our son was 8 at the time and he didn’t find it too enthralling
Customer Service and Staff
The man that checked us in was very pleasant, walked us to our pitch, and answered any questions we had.
He was also in the bar later that evening and was very easy to talk to.
Showers and Toilets
The facilities, while dated, were clean tidy and more than adequate.
The showers had proper taps instead of the push button ones, and the 4 pegs helps hang clothes and towels while showering.
General Cleanliness
Very clean, very tidy, and very well-kept.
I can’t recall seeing anything that I thought could be done better.
Each time I used them, the showers and toilets were clean.
Conclusion for Cartref Campsite in Shropshire
This is a really nice site, and while they have a small playpark, I wouldn’t recommend it for older children. They are clear on their website that riding bikes and playing ball games are not allowed.
We were ok as we just stayed as a stopover, but I think we would only revisit if we were without Max, or again, as a stopover.
If you are travelling without children, I can heartily recommend this site if you want a neat and tidy Campsite in Shropshire, close to Shrewsbury in particular.
