Location of Durdle Door Holiday Park

Durdle Door Campsites location is hard to beat. Perched on top of the Jurassic Coast cliffs, you are a walk away from Durdle Door beach, Lulworth Cove, and other places along the coast.

The only downside is you are also near the car parks that accommodate the hoards of day trippers.

Customer Service and Staff

Other than the bar staff, the only people we spoke to were in reception and the shop.

Both were helpful and happy to answer any questions.

The shop staff, in particular, were cheery, and more than happy to help us find what we needed.

Showers and Toilets

Our Review of Durdle Door Campsite continues with the Showers and Toilets.

Spacious cubicles and clean. This is probably the minimum you should expect. They were not new and modern like we have recently experienced, but they were no means the worst we have encountered either.

Expect lots of footfall. There were a lot of pitches sharing the shower block, probably over 100, so be prepared for them not to always be spotless.

General Cleanliness

No complaints here. The general tidiness of the place could have been better. For example, there doesn’t appear to have been any gardeners for a few months. If you want to know what I mean, then I bang on about it above, or here in the YouTube video.

The ladies loos in the bar were almost out of paper towels, so we had to remind them about that, but other than that, no real issues.

Facilities

As mentioned, the pitches were disappointing. Overgrown in the main park. The below picture tries to show the difference between the two. 2020 vs 2017.

Perhaps they are growing the hedges to try and create a bit more privacy.

The main Sea View pitches where we were, were ok, and enjoyed great views. They were on a slope, so normal levellers won’t do the job.

Many people had to use bricks etc that were lying around.

Bar – Sparse. Most of the tables had been removed, but that wasn’t too surprising. Service was good, and the beers were decent too.

Washing Up – 4 sinks, and on the first day, 3 were not working properly. Two were blocked, and one of the other ones had no hot water. The sinks were unblocked when we needed them on the next day though.

Play Area – Although we had too much planned to go in there, the play park looked decent enough, but we only glanced at it as we drove in

Conclusion

I don’t think we would return in a hurry. Out of season, and perhaps when the grounds have had some TLC, then maybe, but I think there are too many other places we would try before going back here.

The Sea View pitches are great for that morning or evening view, but in between, it is just a mass of cars and people to watch. Particularly in the summer months when we were there.

Positives are the location, and what you can enjoy from the campsite area.

Durdle Door Beach, walks, in particular the hike to Lulworth Cove.

Negatives are the number of people, particularly I would imagine during holidays, weekends and when the sun is shining.

But, let me know if you agree, or not, and what your experience was with Durdle Door Holiday Park.
