Eating and cooking outside is a major part of people’s love of campervanning, and camping. It is why we thought we would put together our list of great Camping Cooking Equipment.

All but one of the below can be used without being hooked up to electricity.

I have done a previous list of the first things we pack, but this list here is purely cooking items.

So, in no particular order, let’s get into it!

The Video – our favourite Camping Cooking Equipment

Camping Gaz Stove

Perfect for that quick cuppa in the morning, but equally good for frying up the bacon, or boiling some pasta.

Compact, easy to store, and quick to set up.

Uses the small gas bottles, so perhaps doesn’t last as long as other options, but great if space and time is important.

Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro Deluxe

Our favourite new piece of cooking equipment, and I think will be one of the first things on the van when we go camping in the future.

Two rings, with interchangeable griddle and hot plate, means you can cook almost anything on here.

Camping Cooking Equipment

Cadac Safari Chef 30

One of our longest-serving items of cooking equipment, and I think we took this on one of our first camping trips back in 2018.

This can cook anything from pasta to pizza (see below). Salmon to sausages.

Boil a kettle, or how about a one pot chicken fajita pasta.

Extremely compact and versatile, and a great piece of cooking equipment.

Cadac Pizza Stone

We haven’t quite mastered the art of using this yet, but I know we are going to have fun trying!

It sits on top of the Cadac Safari Chef 2, and using a lid, can cook a pizza in a few minutes.

However, our first few attempts didn’t quite go to plan, but we are sure going to enjoy practising!

Pizza while camping is a great idea, especially if you have children along!

Stacking Pan Set

Of course, this is quite an obvious one.

When camping, every camper, be it a caravan, tent or campervan needs a pan set in its arsenal of cooking equipment.

Personal preference will play a large part here, but the older version of these is what we have been using, and they have held up to the use extremely well.

Remains to be seen what our upgrade will be, but we are thinking of replacement, just because there is surely something a bit more modern out there now.

Campervan plates and Bowls

We love these as they look great, are perfect for VW owners, and are easy to keep clean.

Bright, colourful and perfect for VW owners.

Mixing Bowl – (Similar to this)

This won’t be for everyone but is really useful if you are looking for something to mix ingredients or anything else in.

We use it whenever we are making homemade burgers. It could also be used as a salad bowl or even a bowl in the evening for those film snacks!

Heat protection mat Silicon

If you are limited on space and don’t have heat resistant services, then this is a must.

It can sit anywhere, and be ready for that hot pan, or kettle.

We just pop it on any table, knowing it is there if we need to use it for that hot pan.

Ours is not exactly this one, but it is similar.

Chopping board

The one we have is a perfect size for the VW California, as it sits nicely on top of the drawer.

Worth measuring to make sure this will fit your van, but I think they are pretty standard sizes.

Minipresso coffee maker

Perhaps not first on your list of Camping Cooking Equipment, but if you are a coffee lover, and want to be able to make a half-decent one anywhere, then this could be for you.

Small, easy to use, and with no electricity needed, this little device spits out a great shot of coffee in a matter of seconds.

Perhaps not technically classed as cooking equipment, but a worthwhile mention if you are a camping coffee lover!

Aerolatte

If you are a milky coffee fan and want that daily latte, then while not boil up a mug of milk, and give it a quick froth.

Add in your shot you have easily made with the above Minipresso, and you’re done.

Simple, quick coffee. Camping style!

Small Toaster – (similar to this)

A bit of luxury, but one we use almost every trip.

Toast, muffing, crumpets or waffles all take just a few seconds.

We tend to use this when we want a quick breakfast when packing up.

Whistling Kettle – (similar to this)

For me, a proper camping kettle has to whistle.

Using only gas, you can have a cup of tea in minutes.

I love the whistling kettle, and this is our second one.

RidgeMonkey

Quite possibly one of the most popular pieces of Camping Cooking Equipment on this list.

I think so many people have one of these, that I don’t need to say too much, other than how incredibly versatile it is.

There is so much you can cook in here, it is a definite must-have on our list.

Ikea Storage Box – (similar to this)

It is definitely worth checking the dimensions for your cupboards, before ordering.

The ones we have fit perfectly into our cupboards, and are really useful for keeping cups and bowls etc in place, but also for food storage.

Plastic Glasses

A simple addition.

The actual ones we have were an impulse buy from Asda during a trip.

But we have used them on every trip since.

Here are links to similar ones.

Egg Rings

Eggs Benedict and sausage & egg breakfast muffins have become easier to make now.

The rings are easy to use, and they mean making a decent poached egg is a breeze.

Definitely worth a purchase if you want an easy, egg poaching solution.

Clip-on Strainer

Space-saving, and it means you can strain a pan of pasta or potatoes one-handed.

Saves having to pack a sieve, or something similar to drain water.

It just clips to the side of the pan, and you pour normally. How to do and also how not to do it is shown in the video at the top of this page.

Utensils – (similar to this)

Not too much to say here.

We have simple plastic utensils similar to the ones shown here.

We also have these cool VW ones, which are a lot more expensive, but are pretty cool if you ask me!

Collapsible Bucket with Handles

This bucket is a certain must-have.

If you are in the market for a collapsable bucket, make sure you get one with handles.

A simple suggestion, but it will make carrying washing up to and from the sink a lot easier.

This will leave a hand free for pots, pans that don’t fit in the bucket, but also, a drainer!! See next item.

Collapsible Drainer

As far as campervan accessories go, this may be a bit of an extra item.

If you want to make that trip to do the dishes that little bit easier, how about a Dish Drainer?

Not every campsite has these next to the sink, and we find them useful when they don’t. It just means you don’t have to pile your plates etc up and risk them falling.

Of course, it also means they drain better, and are easier to dry.

Summary of our Camping Cooking Equipment

From BBQs to Buckets. Kettles to Coffe Makers, that is a list of our favourite Camping Cooking Equipment that we take on our trips.
