Billy Winters Weymouth – Cool, Funky, with chilled out vibes

Billy Winters Weymouth Beach Bar is just a cool place to be. Sitting on the pebble/shingle beach, not far from Chesil Beach sits this earthy, inviting, retro beach bar. A beachside shack with brightly painted picnic tables overlooking the beach. Billy Winters is a place you will want to spend some time at.

We are trying to offer more reviews/opinions of eateries, so hopefully, you’ll find this one useful. The opportunity was taken to visit this one while on a Camping trip nearby.

Since this trip, we have stayed at Pebble Bank, a campsite about amile away.

We loved Billy Winters proximity to the beach. For a more modern beachside cafe, further east along the coast, check out this one!

Look up Beachside Shack in the dictionary, and you may find a photo of Billy Winters. It does great at giving off the beach / hippy aura, with the old guitars adorning the wall. The unusual feature of a sideboard housing an unused stereo sits in the corner. I get the feeling that if the beach was fit for surfers, they would enjoy this place.

Guessing it perhaps has room for 30 inside. Outside, perhaps 15 or so picnic type tables sit alone, waiting for the better weather.

Weather that doesn’t involve a chilled wind whipping in from the sea which is what it was like when we visited. As a result, the visitors to Billy Winters in Weymouth make the most of the chilled out vibes indoors.

Stealers Wheels and The Kooks hum over the stereo, and it is the sort of place you could easily while away the hours.

Snapshot of Billy Winters Beach Bar

We stumbled across Billy Winters by chance, and we were so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, I knew I was going to like the place.

The ambience, the decor, the funkiness.

Everything about it was spot on. I think if I lived nearby, I would hang out here as often as possible, with a coffee, do some work, the odd breakfast. Thumbs up from me!

Location

Billy Winters Beach Bar

As mentioned already, on the edge of the beach, a stones through from the popular Chesil Beach.

You can sit at a bar type counter and overlook the beach and the sea. There seemed to be plenty of parking, and situated on the beach, near Chesil and Portland is a bonus.

Customer Service

All good. Staff were welcoming and pleasant. We only had coffee and snack so they didn’t really have too much to do!

Billy Winters Beach Bar Menu

Decent. While we cannot comment on the food quality unfortunately, the choice was abundant. Plenty of variety, a Fish section looked plentiful if you like that sort of thing (which I don’t!)

My choice if (sorry when) we return would be the Chimichanga or I think a few of the Tapas. That’s right, they do Tapas too!!

The sample Drinks menu wasn’t that extensive, but when you look at the bar, you know they have just about everything!! The wide cluttered bar is dominated by chalkboards listing all its wares.

Billy Winters Beach Bar Food Quality

So, not having eaten here it would be unfair to pass judgement. So we will save that for the next visit. The snacks we did have went down well, but we didn’t enjoy enough of the menu to make a fair comment.

Price / Value for Money

Looking at the menu, the prices seem reasonable. £11.50 for a pizza, and Burgers for less than £10 (excl sides).

Cocktails for £7.50 and bottles of wine from £17 also seem pretty decent.
