Campervan Accessories – 8 Must Have’s

A long list of Campervan Accessories are not what you want to buy, as buying a campervan isn’t cheap. You can, for sure, do it cheaper than we did, with a 2-year-old California (you can also do it a lot more expensive too). If it helps, here are the first things we bought for our new Campervan.

After the initial outlay hopefully there will be a bit left for a few Campervan Accessories. After all, you need something to make that first cup of tea in. If you are not buying, but hiring a Campervan, this is probably going to be useful.

So, without further ado, here are the the first things we bought for our new Campervan.

The Whistling Kettle

A whistling kettle is probably the most important Campervan Accessories when camping. It is not too big that it won’t tuck in the cupboard. And it is still a 1ltr capacity so plenty of hot water for a few cups of tea.

Pop it on the stove and in a few minutes you will be enjoying that first cuppa in no time!

Campervan Accessories – Mugs, Dinner Set and Glasses

Now you need something to drink that lovely cup of tea in. So, the first things we bought for our new Campervan had to include these.

The Melamine campervan mugs are perfect, particularly if you are the proud owner of a VW Campervan.

Not only can you get the mugs, but a matching dinner set and glasses, won’t look out of place either.

Campervan Accessories – Levellers

At some point, you are going to be given a pitch that is not level, so this is a much needed Campervan Accessory.

The only real answer is to use levellers to prop up one end or one side of the campervan.  These leveller ramps are solid and will do exactly the job you need.

25m Mains Hook Up Lead

If you are intending to ensure most of your campsites have a mains hook up, so you can plug in that fan heater or use the microwave, then you need one of these.

At some campsites, you will need a long one of these. That is why we went for the 25m one.

You can get shorter, slightly cheaper ones, but at some point, you are likely to need a longer one.

Mains Hook Up Lead Carry Bag

This may seen like a bit of an unnecessary item. But 25m of 10amp mains lead, when wound up is heavy and tricky to handle, so as Campervan Accessories go, this is a nice to have.

You can get the plastic reels to wind them up, or you can get sturdier cases, but being in a campervan, you need to think about storage.

This is big enough to take the 25m, and seems strong yet thin enough to squeeze into the drawer or cupboard under the seat.

Cali Topper

Campervan Accessories

As we have already eluded to, we plan on camping in all weathers. In order to ensure our 3 year old Max sleeps well, we have invested in the Comfortz VW California “Cali-Topper”.

This is a cover that slides over the roof, and offers more protection from the rain, but importantly the cold.

We bought this from Everything California, and you can get yours here.

Campervan Accessories – What we are buying next

Now our little boy has started cycling, we need to get a bike rack. There are many options, like the one that fits on the tow bar. We will probably end up going for the one that hooks over the boot, as we have a tailgate. But there are plenty of options out there.

EDIT June 2020: In light of how campsites may reopen, we have bought the below toilet following some information I got from a few campsites I contacted. Read here for more info.

Toilet – Instead of having to creep across a darkened campsite in the dead of night, we may now choose to just pop outside to the drive away awning.

Having a loo in or near the campervan is a bonus and (dare I say it) luxury that we have not enjoyed as yet.

The first things we bought for our new Campervan

So there you have it. The first campervan accessories we bought for our new Campervan after we welcomed her to the family.

I hope you find this helpful and you get as much use from all of these things as we do! What is your must have campervan accessory?

Happy Campervanning!!
